In this lesson:
Notifications are alerts or messages that inform users of important updates or actions required within the platform. These notifications appear as pop-up messages, emails, or in-app notifications, and they provide you with real-time updates about your work and your clients!
How Notifications Work in Canopy
If you have unread notifications, a small red dot hovers over your Canopy avatar or profile picture.
- To get started, click on your profile on the global navigation bar.
- This opens the Notifications screen.
- The number in the red dot in line with the Notifications button shows your number of unread notifications.
On the notifications screen, click each unread notification to mark it as read. To mark all your notifications as read, check the box next to Select All and choose Mark as read.
Hover over a Read notification and click Mark as Unread to add it to the list of unread notifications.
The Notifications column on the left side displays how many notifications you have for various sections of Canopy.
Understanding Notification Types
Canopy has three notification types that you can choose from in your settings.
- Banner Notifications: Banner notifications slide in from the top-right corner of Canopy and then disappear. Clicking on banner notifications takes you to that notification's associated content in Canopy.
- Badge Notifications: Badge notifications are added to the counter bubble on your profile picture. Details for badge notifications can be found in the notification center by selecting Notifications from the profile popout menu.
- Email notifications: Email notifications are sent to the email address stored in your profile settings. Email notifications contain a button that opens the notification's associated content in Canopy.
Please note that contact-related notifications will only appear for team members who are assigned to the relevant contact.
Set Notification Preferences
- Select Settings from the pop-out menu.
Check the in-line box next to each notification type you want to receive for the associated event.
- You can also uncheck boxes to stop receiving that notification type.
