In this lesson:
With your emails synced to Canopy, you can now begin viewing email correspondence and sending emails to your clients.
Viewing Email Correspondence
Emails between your firm and client save in the Client Record. This makes all communication easy to find.
To see email correspondence with a certain client:
- Go to a Client Record.
- Click on the Communication tab.
Here, you'll see all communication you've had via email with that client. Remember, this is the communication you have between your firm and the default email saved in the client record.
Sending a Single Email
Sending a single email from Canopy is easy. You can send an email to a client in a couple of areas:
- In the Communications tab in a Client Record.
- From the Email option in the navigation bar.
Since we just covered this for viewing correspondence, you can create an email from the Communications tab. Simply click New email.
You can also create and send an email quickly from the navigation bar:
- Click the global + button.
- In the second menu, choose Email.
Now, you can choose a client and write your email.
Sending Bulk Emails
Sending bulk emails is an incredible time saver when you need to get a hold of many clients at once. It's useful to use bulk emails when you've gained quite a few clients in the past few months or are gearing up for tax season.
The easiest way to send a bulk email is through the Client List.
You can see above there is a Saved Filter View with all new clients from 2022. (We covered this in the last section but you can learn more from this article!)
This is the group of clients that we want to send a welcome email to. We selected the checkbox at the top of the list so that all clients were checked and then I clicked on the envelope icon on the top right to start my bulk email.
In the New email window that populates, you'll see the From and To fields, along with the Subject line and Body. At the bottom of the window, you can:
- Format your letter
- Add links and attachments
- Use an email template
Then, you have the option to Send, Edit, or Send a test email.
