Apply an Email Template to a Bulk Email
An email template is a pre-designed layout for an email that can be reused for multiple email campaigns. Email templates are designed to help streamline the process of creating and sending emails, by providing a standardized structure for content and branding.
One thing to note: Email templates can only be created by those with Admin permissions in Canopy.
Create an Email Template
Email templates are created in the Templates module in the navigation bar. Once you create a standard template here, you can apply it wherever you are sending an email in Canopy.
To make an email template:
- Go to Templates in the navigation bar.
- In the secondary menu, click Email.
This takes you to the Email Templates page. You can find the collection of team and private email templates here. Alright, now you're ready to add a template!
Please Note: Canopy does not provide any default Email Templates. You'll need to create your own!
- Click Add template.
- Enter a title.
- Type the subject line.
- Draft your email.
- Click Save.
Canopy Tip: Don't forget to switch the toggle for team visibility if needed!
Good to Know: You can even copy your drafted email from a document on your desktop and paste it without formatting (Ctrl + Shift + V). Then you can format it in Canopy.
Apply an Email Template to an Email
Once you've made your template, you can use it to send emails to clients. There are numerous areas in Canopy to use templates (not just for emails). Look for template buttons or this icon:
Let's get a feel for applying an email template:
- Go to Inbox in the navigation bar.
- Click Create email.
- Select the Templates icon.
- Choose your template.
Apply an Email Template to a Bulk Email
We can make use of yet another bulk action with email. This is handy if you want to send the same standard email to many clients at once.
- Go to Clients in the navigation bar.
- In the secondary menu, click Client List.
- Click the checkboxes for the clients needed.
- In the top right, click on the envelope icon.
- Select the Templates icon.
- Choose your template.
A message pops up if a contact is missing an email. You can choose to add it here or continue without sending that contact an email.
